Architectural Portraits
Fees and Details
My standard size Architectural Portraits are on a 9" x 12" watercolor sheet with a painted image upwards of 7" x 10" and
on a 12" x 18" watercolor sheet with a painted image upwards of 10" x 16".
The 12" x 18" size is best suited for a house with a wider footprint, to accommodate extensive landscaping,
or if you just want a larger size painting.
The price for an architectural portrait on a standard 9" x 12" watercolor sheet is $650 and the 12" x 18" price is $1,400.
If shipped, the cost of insured shipping + 3% convenience fee is additional.
A non-refundable deposit of 50% is required with a signed contract in advance.
This deposit holds your order in line (so that it can be delivered in a timely manner).
Preparation for your architectural portrait process is a matter of assembling reference photos.
I like to see the full front of the house, details like exterior entrance ways, doors, windows, and relevant ornamental work.
A street view is important even if the house itself is obscured by foliage.
Depending on the house and site, sometimes an angled view is in order.
If I am located near to the house, I'll take the reference photos.
If I am not nearby, I'll ask you to take an assortment of reference photos with your smart phone.
The photos only need to be serviceable so that I can see color, texture, details, plant life, and
shapes of doors, windows, and ornaments, steps, and any other relevant information.
Please specify a favorite view or specific details you would like included.
(For example, color, season, foliage. I will accommodate you when possible.)
Sometimes I am able to research real estate images.
Once in a while, I'll have to do forensic work.
For example, if a house has burned down or been demolished,
I’ll ask for old photos or do research through master site files, plans or other potential ways to reconstruct.
Photos by smartphone are fine.
Please allow 2 weeks for one painting or for completion date specified in our contract.
Allow additional time for shipping, holidays and framing time.
In some cases, I can provide a demonstration sketch to assure you of the layout.
