Hello!
I'm a highly responsible, vastly experienced, lover of nature, animals, and architecture. I stop to meet every dog I pass. I've lived with cats but I'm dog crazy.
Most recently, I've worked as a professional watercolor artist (currently specializing in Architectural Portraits), freelance teacher, creative coach, and writer. For 22 years, I taught drawing, watercolor, art and music history. I spent many years performing internationally and recording as a singer-songwriter. My background includes museum exhibit work, academic administration at MIT, theater, plus classical, folk, and jazz music production.
I was raised in suburban Philadelphia, spending summers in Longport, NJ and the Catskills. I spent my 20s in Santa Monica, CA, attended college in Sarasota, FL, lived in Belmont, MA, Tamworth, NH, Charleston and Edisto Beach, SC, Charlottesville, VA and Nashville, TN (where I designed and built a studio). I have lived in Raleigh, NC, for almost six years.
An avid gardener, I practice yoga and walk daily, swim laps every chance I get and am a non-smoker! Highly sensitive, I am naturally helpful and thoughtful of others, ecologically conscious, architecturally keen, responsible and know how to follow directions.
I come with excellent references and a 14-year-old cat, Miss Tallulah, who lived with other cats for years and is fascinated by dogs as long as they keep their distance. Though I’m sure you think the same of your furry family member(s), Miss Tallulah is the perfect pet, non-destructive, low maintenance and prefers to visit in her own (my) guest room and bath with the door closed to the rest of your house to avoid any potential stressful situation. She uses pine pellets for littler so there is no ammonia smell or clay dust and we travel with linens to keep cat hair to a bare minimum.
Look around on this page at the photos of animals I've cared for over the past year. Also! I once wrote a song about a dog I met in Italy. You can listen to Amico in Vasto on YouTube: https://youtu.be/f_peWhH_1tU

WHYAfter teaching independently and creative freelancing for 25 years, I decided that an extended sabbatical was in order. Considering my options and that I love meeting new animals and exploring new neighborhoods, I opted for house and pet sitting.
When I toured full-time as a singer-songwriter, I stayed in a different family's home in the U.S. and Europe almost every night. I found that part of my "job" enlightening, educational, and a great adventure. As a highly sensitive communicator, I'm a great asset to homeowners because, for the right fit, I'm a wonderful caretaker of furry family members, gardens and, of course, your home itself. The most difficult part of these sabbatical sits is the heartbreak of leaving the animals I've cared for and grown to love. |

Suzanne was a godsend in that for almost 6 weeks she competently and carefully sat our house and ensured that our dog Molly remained healthy and happy. There is no doubt that Molly missed her after she left. Besides taking Molly on long walks and engaging with Molly a great deal during each day, Suzanne positively interacted with neighbors while she was here and kept Molly plugged into the goings-on of other dogs. Suzanne's regular communications during our trip not only reported on developments that we needed to hear but also reassured us that all was going well; they were just what we wanted to hear. She organized deliveries and mail that came in our absence, replaced items she had consumed, and otherwise left the house in good shape. Suzanne is an interesting, multitalented person. She seems wise, careful and sensitive and inspires confidence. We appreciate that she came a day early, at our request, for a bit of briefing before we left. This successful experience with Trusted Housesitters, our first, has motivated us to recommend the site--and Suzanne--to others.

We were away for three weeks. Suzanne stayed in contact with us throughout our vacation. She buried a chicken who was done in by some marauder and secured the damaged hen house fence. We returned to a tidy house and happy pets. A good experience!

We thoroughly enjoyed having Suzanne stay with us and sit our house and pets while we were away. She came a day early to get to know our routine and we found her to be smart, funny and great company. She brought her 13 year old cat, Miss Tallulah, and kept her separated from ours in her room the entire time and that worked well for all pets. She kept in touch while we were away and let us know how they were, she walked the pups, cuddled the cats and was very responsible with our home so we were delighted. She is always welcome and we hope she comes back!

I've known Suzanne for three years. I started by taking art classes with her and have gotten to know her personally. Suzanne was an outstanding teacher. As a professional artist, she brought great expertise to our classes. She was reliable and responsible, always well prepared and organized, keeping the classes on track. She made sure the facility and materials were appropriate for class and cleaned up after. She went above and beyond to arrange shows of our work and field trips. Her high integrity and work ethic were clear in how she managed the classes. Personally, Suzanne is sensitive and caring. She loves animals especially dogs. She is honest and trustworthy.

To Whom it May Concern, If I were looking for a housesitter and Suzanne showed up, I would be beyond happy! Suzanne and I met each other when we worked together about 38 years ago. She was excellent at anything she touched, and still is. She takes personal responsibilities very seriously, and has to help others along the way wherever she goes, that just comes naturally to her. She is the most caring individual you could meet and incredibly reliable. In addition she can sing beautifully, play many musical instruments, her art work is phenomenal and I would call her highly intellectual, to boot. You can't find a better housesitter!

Suzanne has been a tenant with us for over 5 years. During that time, she has been a respectful and tidy housekeeper. She has upheld our community policies and has been a responsible tenant.
